Sometimes Movies are so Awfully Good

If you have read one of my other posts from today, I like you, also you will understand what I mean when I say a movie is "Awfully Good".

Here is another list. A list of a few of my Awfully Good movies of 2010.

The Losers, Prince of Persia, The Sorcerer's Apprentice, The Expendables, Burlesque, The Book of Eli, Legion, and Clash of the Titans.

Do you want to know which was my favorite Awfully Good movie of 2010?

It was Legion. I have not laughed so much in a serious movie since XXX.

Also there are a few movies, I watched in hopes that they could at least make it to the Awfully Good list, but failed. Here are two 2010 movies I suggest you never watch.

Killers, The Last Airbender

The Killers was a movie I was sure from the beginning it was going to be horrible, I can't remember why I watched it. However The Last Airbender, never has a movie been such a disappointment. I loved the cartoon series, seriously I recommend you watch it. The movie sucked, and I want them to remake it.

Once again if you feel I was wrong in any way about my choices, I don't care, but you can leave a comment.

Sometimes I'm Ashamed I like movies

Well, movies movies movies. I like movies and sometimes I like those movies that the majority thought were terrible. Here is a list of movies that I am ashamed to say I enjoyed from 2010

The A-team, Johah Hex, Predators, Easy A, Tron Legacy, Edge of Darkness, The Crazies, and Hot Tub Time Machine.

If you are saying that you don't think I should be ashamed by liking some or all of these movies, I thank you, but my shame won't abate for long. I know why I'm ashamed to like these movies, but I also will not hold back that I enjoyed watching them. Again, don't judge me, but feel free to comment.

Sometimes I Like Movies

Well since I just talked about how many movies I've watched from 2010 I will give you my top ... movies of 2010 (that I have seen so far). I know that I have a few friends who have degree's in film who may read this. I say to you, don't judge me. However feel free to comment.

1. The Social Network

Considering that when I heard this movie was coming out, I thought "How could this even be a good movie? Who would want to watch a movie about Facebook?" As soon as the first scene was over I knew I was wrong. Jesse Eisenberg is incredible as Mark Zuckerberg! Now all the actors were great in this movie, but Eisenberg played Zuckerberg so well that I was wishing the movie was longer than 2 hours.

2. The Fighter

Again this was a movie that I was not sure would be that great. I know that Christian Bale is a great actor and Mark Wahlberg can be really good when he tries. I guess I was worried it was going to be another Rocky... I mean boxing movie. Honestly if you hate your mom, have a large family of sisters who try to control your life or a dead beat brother, this movie will make you feel better about them. Mark Wahlberg does well in this movie, but Christian Bale excels.

3. True Grit

As soon as I heard this movie was being made and that it was being made by the Coen brothers I was excited to see it. I love the original, and the Coen's made it great without ruining the first. Jeff Bridges blew me away with how well he played a drunk, bad ass marshal. Hailee Steinfeld was also really great. I am surprised at how well she did for how young she is. I feel Matt Damon could have done better, but he certainly didn't do a terrible job.

4. Inception

I remember hearing one of my friends wonder why the trailer for this film started showing up nearly a year before it came out. I quietly answered his question to my self that it was going to be a good movie, that's why. This movie had a great cast, a great story and a great director. I was blown away by the effects, the acting, and how well the story kept my attention.

5. Scott Pilgrim vs. The World

I'm sure a lot of people wonder why this is #5. Honestly there were probably other movies out there that were made better, had better acting, or a more complex, meaningful story. I just really can't help how much I enjoyed this movie. I know it is not great, but my enjoyment from this movie was a lot higher than some of the other movies I watched this year. Also, unless you have a film degree, I don't care why you think this should not be here or why it should be higher. Although anyone can still comment. Hopefully there will be some good hateful discussions.

Sometimes I Watch Movies

So today I realized that I have watched about 45 movies from 2010. That seemed a bit low so I looked at all the movies made in 2010 and decided that I would like to watch 30 more from the 2010 bucket. Some of the movies I have watched and plan to watch probably should end up in a bucket of... well my family reads this so I won't finish that part. It's funny though how some of these movies that are quite terrible, I actually find them entertaining me. Sometimes entertaining me because I actually like them and others entertaining me because they are so awful they are good. I actually name these movies simply "Awfully Good" movies. The best way I can explain why I like these movies is to get sidetracked.

I have a friend who is a mechanical engineer. He knows a lot and will prove it to you anytime you ask him a question. However he explains his answers in such detail that most of the time you don't know what you asked him in the first place. Being a third party to such an event is very funny. In fact during a time in our friendship you could say that when he tried to be funny it didn't work out, but when he happened to be in these situations they were so amusing that we had to give them a name, which is a "Miss Hit". This actually became his style of humor, we would actually make such dry or terrible jokes that they would make us laugh. Now when I watch these "Awfully Good" movies it is a lot like the "Miss Hits" my friend says. If that doesn't explain why I like terrible movies then I probably don't like you.

I also should add, that this friend I just spoke of (assuming he will read this.) is a great guy. Honestly he has gotten a lot better at not explaining things like an engineer. He actually makes really funny jokes that were not supposed to be terrible. He is one of my favorites.

Ladies you should date him. He is really smart and is a hard worker. He has his Masters in Mechanical Engineering from USU. His name is Power D, A.K.A. David Aldous.

Sometimes I Make Spanish Commercials.

I did the special effects on this commercial. That means I keyed out the background and the board. I also made sure the video stayed on the board while she moved it around. I used After Effects to do all this. It wasn't the easiest job I've done, but it wasn't the hardest either.

Also this is not the finished product. The sound was remixed after I finished, but the video was basically the same.

Sometimes I Make Wedding Videos

Sometimes I make wedding videos. This is the last one that I made. Back in July I filmed Chris and Kim Herrera. I became good friends with Kim this last spring. She asked me to date her, and I turned her down (only as a joke, even though I think she took it seriously). Now you see the fruits of my rejecting her. Let that be a lesson to you girls, if I reject you then you will probably get married soon.

I also have a hard time dealing with rejection, and not just from girls. Sometimes I fear rejection from the things I create, like videos. Usually I will create something and only show it to my closest friends or to no one at all. Since showing it to no one is useless, and my close friends will most likely say it is great no matter what; I'm going to post it here.

Since this is what I want to do as a career I would like to get better. Feel free to comment on this post so that I can make my videos better.

Let's Try This Again.

So I decided to make a new blog. It might be because I didn't update my last one for over two years and forgot my password. No big deal, there was nothing important on that last one.
